Where possible, we recommend using public transport. • Sorrento can get very busy during the peak months of July and August and is also very hot during this time. Visiting in early summer or early autumn means fewer crowds and a pleasant, balmy climate. • Self-catering offers a more affordable option, particularly for families, and you have everything you need at the apartment to prepare your own meals. When you feel like dining out, there is an excellent choice of eateries nearby, including pizzerias, family-run seafood tavernas in the nearby port and fine dining restaurants. However, public transport links are excellent, and we recommend using public transport where possible. If you do have a car with you, you can park in a public car park (pay locally). • Sorrento is busy during July and August, so if you can visit in May, June or September, you’ll experience the town at its best. Fortunately, Sorrento’s mild climate means that visiting in early summer or early autumn is a great option. • You’ll have everything you need close by in terms of local restaurants and food shops. When you want to dine out away from the crowds, head for one of the family-run seafood tavernas in the nearby port. However, great food and the Sorrento peninsula go hand in hand, so when you feel like venturing further afield, choose one of the excellent restaurants in Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, or at Nerano on the tip of the peninsula.
